(ADI) today announced it has begun the formal process of expanding its fleet of managed and chartered aircraft by adding a 50-seat regional jet, the EMB-145, to its portfolio. ADI expects the new aircraft to be ready to service the charter market late in the first quarter of 2012, pending FAA certification. </p> <p> The aircraft will be operated under ADI's FAA Part 121 air carrier certificate. ADI was first awarded its Part 121 operating certificate in 2003. The company has been active in supplemental air carrier work and corporate shuttles involving large cabin aircraft ever since. The EMB-145 is the third new aircraft type ADI has added to its operating certificate since beginning its initial Part 121operation with a Fokker F28, followed shortly thereafter by an Airbus A319. The EMB-145 will be the first of three planned additions to the operating certificate in 2012. </p> <p> "It is our belief that the demand for the 50-75 passenger charter market will increase over the next several years as traditional scheduled airline carriers continue to eliminate lower density and marginally profitable routes, said Donald Reppert, senior vice president of sales and marketing for ADI. The facility, located 25 miles northwest of Atlanta, will be home to ADI's new regional charter management office and is expected to be completed by the end of 2011. </p> <p> The new facility is an expansion of ADI into the southeast markets and will be the central headquarters and maintenance base for the new southeast charter fleet. It will include 10,000-square-feet of office space to accommodate the company's sales team, mechanics and flight crew. In addition to the new hangar, ADI plans to open a satellite Aerodynamics Technical Services location at the facility to better serve its customers in the southeast. </p> <p> ADI plans to grow its charter management fleet over the next year by adding 10 modern business jets.
